Premium domain names give business owners the opportunity to build their online brand, and overall, enhance their company’s popularity. Premium domains are names that have been previously registered and are now back on the market and available to the next owner. These specific domain names are often short and simple, straight to the point.

Due to the popularity of premium domain names, their availability is limited as there is a greater market for premium domains than regular names. The more memorable the domain name, the more it is worth. If your domain name is easy to spell and pronounce, is short and potentially brand able and doesn’t have different variations of spelling then you are looking at a premium domain name.

Industries that are highly competitive and mainly within the business sector (real estate, banking, lawyers, consultants etc.), will greatly benefit from an exact match domain, they want to brand their product or service through their name, setting them apart from the rest in a crowded market, however, the majority of premium domains have a .com TLD (top level domain) but there are also .net, .org and .biz names that appeal to different businesses and organizations.

Premium domain names will be more expensive than new ones, depending on the name. Marketability, economic trends, traffic and of course spelling are all factors that weigh in on the pricing. Notable or obvious domain names have a stronger branding ability, they are easier to remember and get more traffic, so, in turn, they will be a bit pricier. At the end of the day, depending on the name you choose for your business, it will be worth the investment.

It’s easy, if you want your business recognized, invest in a premium domain name, get one that is short, simple and straight to the point, even better, get an exact match domain name, one that tells your market what you do through your domain name, like paintercapetown.co.za, this is easy, this is basic, this is your brand, this is what you do, how much easier can it get?

Thai Sabai

The brief was to re-design their old and boring website into something that was more inline with the latest trends, but not too flat and still with a warmish feel. We decided on a clean look but with some texture behind the logo and showcased some of the gallery images in a slideshow on various pages, but with a clean lifestyle slideshow on the homepage.

We are proud to announce the launch of the DC3 Website, a creative design studio that specializes in generating photorealistic architectural visuals for a range of clients within the building and property development industry.

Social Networks

What will we be without all the social networking sites? Bored? Un-creative? Un-entertained? Unimaginative? Each of the networks we belong to, be it for socializing, image sharing, blog posting or for creating a page to brand and market your business, they all have one thing in common … Connecting Socially.

Being social is something we strive to be and what better way to do so then online, creating a profile, entering details about you, loading images and quirky quotes and funny memes, just to entertain your friends and followers. The more friends and followers one has the better. Social networks are not limited to just creating personal profiles for individuals, you can very easily create pages and profiles for your business. Some networks like Google+ and Facebook allows you to create a business page. All though, in some cases it would be best to only focus and register on platforms that mainly focus on business pages and profiles, that way when people are searching on such networks, you will be found for the service and products you provide. But it won’t hurt to expand and go further, don’t limit yourself to business networks like LinkedIn, go further and share images of your work and what you can do, like on Pinterest and Stumble Upon etc etc …

Facebook is the social network that everyone is always talking about, its constantly coming up with new and interesting apps and games, which is entertaining, but they don’t stop there, they are open to anyone, be it news related, organizations for animals and abuse, to the latest in celebrity gossip. They have an abundance of links that you can follow, from the one to the next to the next and so on and so forth.

Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Flickr, all these networks have one specific thing in common.. They are all mainly focused on image sharing, building story lines and profiles with images rather than words etc. This is something different, something new and exciting, since a picture says a thousand words, what better way to say something than to share a picture.

When we make use of social networks for marketing purposes, we do so in order to spread the word in a more broader spectrum, we are not limited to just one specific target market, we open up doors to so much more, a much wider client base.

If you want your business to grow and flourish, the best way to do so is to create an online presence! There are millions upon millions of people who use and surf the net everyday and the chances of them coming across your website are pretty good, providing you have applied the proper SEO techniques and what not.

Having a website for your business is the very best thing you can do, it creates a powerful impression of who you are and what you do, giving the client some background about you is always a good way to start a “relationship”. A website creates convenience for your customer base, being online enables them to constantly be in touch with you and the services and products you provide. What’s more convenient is that technology has evolved so tremendously over the last few years that you are now able to access the internet and different websites using your mobile phone and a lot of website design companies are now able to create responsive and mobile friendly websites.

Online marketing is cost effective, save time and money on printing brochures and placing ads, printing newsletters and coupons. With a website, it’s quick and easy, simply update your all ready existing information and with email, send out your monthly or weekly newsletter to your clients. Websites that are interactive and that allows your client to become “part” of your website also expands your customer base, the more sign ups, the better. A clean, modern and easy to navigate web site is also a great aspect, this creates the look and feel of your company being modern and concise. A new and original design will always leave them wanting more, create something of ‘AW’ that will encourage the user to go even further than just the home page. You can reflect your company’s values and products, especially since this is the first point of contact for a new user or a potential customer. Remember, first impressions last!

It’s easy to tell a client that you have a website, but you want to be able to give them that all the information they need, anything and everything they would like to know about what you do and the services you provide, even down to your weekly rates and hours.

We all want the quick and easy way of doing things and more often than usual, that way is always the wrong way and you could land yourself and your business in a whole heap of trouble. Why risk your “online reputation” when you can gain so much more from doing things the right way. Yes, the right way does take a bit more time and effort but at the end of the day you risk losing a whole lot more by using the wrong techniques.

All though there is more than one way to skin a cat (I have always hated this saying) there is also a right and a wrong way. With online marketing and SEO, there are a lot of strategies and techniques one can apply in order to grow your business on the internet. The information is endless when it comes to SEO, there is nothing not worth doing and you can never do enough thereof.

When it comes to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) the terminology White Hat SEO refers to using tactics and strategies that mainly focus on human audience rather than search engines, thus only following the search engines rules and policies. Let me explain; if a web site is optimized using SEO techniques and is purely focused on relevancy and organic rankings, then this site would be considered to be optimized using White Hat SEO only. The best techniques included in White Hat SEO include keywords that are relevant to your website, link building to improve the overall popularity of your website, and writing content for your website. An informative website, using relevant keywords, phrases and images will go much further than a site that is not portraying itself through its website.

For those of you who prefer living dangerously and want a quick fix to your site, Black Hat SEO is the more aggressive route to go, not that I would advise you to do so. Black Hat SEO refers to strategies and techniques that focuses more on search engines rather than human “interaction” and does not abide by the search engines rules and regulations. Best examples Black Hat SEO techniques are keyword stuffing, doorway pages and invisible text. Black Hat SEO can result in your website being banned from a search engine.

As with anything SEO related, there is a lot more to say and know and learn about these “Hats”, but that’s an article for another day.

Animals of the Internet

Google has been known for often updating their algorithms and continuously changing their strategies. To make it easier for us, the public, they have provided each “change” with a name, Panda, Penguin and as of latest, Hummingbird. It is important for you to know and understand what these animals can do for you and your business and most importantly your website and ranking ability. Understanding how the animals of the internet affect your business will, at the end of the day distinguish weather you will be a success or a failure online – and that’s where all the business is.

Google Panda was only released in February 2011 and since then has been hard at work, making sure only the very best, quality and informative, straight to the point websites are positioned at the very top of the SERP. These sites are the ones that offer good, dependable content thus increasing their rankings in the search results accordingly. This typically means that the user will be more likely to find exactly what they searched for.

Google Penguin, another algorithm implemented by Google was first released in April 2012 and was mainly focused on spam sites. Site that use keyword stuffing, invisible doorway pages and other link schemes, basically any site that relied on black hat SEO found themselves dropped from the result pages. Although Google Penguin only affected a small number of pages, it was still proved as important in determining better web practices.

Google Hummingbird is the newest member to the zoological internet family and has proven to be a straight shooter regarding its “job”. As Google is always looking at newer and better ways of making the internet more and more user friendly, this new algorithm has stirred up some feelings on unease, however, all Hummingbird is really designed to do is make the search process simpler and more useful. Let me explain … when someone uses Google to search for something specific, Hummingbird takes more than just the keywords used into account. For example, if someone is looking for home security, they are more likely to come across companies within the industry, rather than pages simply containing the words “home security”.
